TARO with members of the Tanganyika Law Society(TLS) reviewed the draft of the proposed amendment to the National Arts Act. No.23 of 1984






TARO and members of the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) have convened a meeting to review the proposed draft of amendments to the National Arts Act no.23 of 1984. The proposal has focused on improving gender equality, freedom of artistic expression, professionalism, reducing compliance fees in conducting artistic activities, promotion of cultural rights, and good governance within the arts and culture sector. The proposal is expected to be submitted to the relevant parliamentary committees for advocacy to amend the law mentioned above. This activity is part of the SANAA RIGHTS project implemented by the Tanzania Artists Rights Organization (TARO) in collaboration with Culture and Development East Africa (CDEA), funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam. The copy of the reviewed draft of the proposed amendment of the National Arts Act. No.23 of 1984 is attached below.
